Vintage Styx

The Venetian is a great venue for a rock show, unfortunately most of the geezers in attendance want to stand up for two hours like it's 1975...and I was only eight rows back. The next show I book at the Venetian I will try for front row mezzanine balcony to avoid this problem. The guys did 19 songs, all the great hits and sounded great. Tommy Shaw is an amazing talent. The energy seemed slightly off but then again most of these guys are pushing 70. I'm amazed they can pretend to care at all after 50 years in the band, and 2,956 stage shows. A polished professional rock show with all the trimmings. I'll see them again if I get the chance.

The little shopping area for Memorabilia was very nice. The bar seemed well stocked. The Theater at the Venetian was beautiful and the acoustics were wonderful. The band played and interacted with great enthusiasm. To top off seeing one of my favorite bands on my bucket list, they donated an autographed guitar to raise money for the 22 Warriors foundation. What a great cause, So we bought 2 tickets before we went into the theatre. After the announcer talked about the foundation and raffle my husband went and purchased 5 more. They announced the winning ticket after the awesome concert. To our much disbelief we won the beautiful Styx autographed Les Paul. Woohoo!!! Thanks so much Styx.

Styx still sounds amazing!!!

I couldn't believe how good these guys still sound!!! And the acoustics at the Mayo Civic Center were fantastic!!! I saw Def Leppard and Motley Crue at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis and the sound was the worst I'd ever heard!! I couldn't tell what song they were singing until they sang the chorus. Not a problem at all at the Civic Center! I will be going to many more shows at this venue. Styx played for two one-hour sets which is longer than most groups do. Their set list was very good although I would have preferred having a couple more oldies in place of some of the songs from their latest album. Overall, an excellent experience and I'm very glad that I went to this show!
